Dr. Michelle Miller

Superintendent Dr. John L Colbert will recommend Dr. Michelle Miller to be the next principal of Fayetteville High School, beginning with the 2022-23 school year. Dr. Miller is currently an assistant principal at FHS. She will succeed Dr. Jay Dostal, who has accepted a principalship in Omaha, Nebraska.

The Fayetteville Board of Education will vote on the recommendation at the April 28 regular meeting.

“It was no surprise that there was a great deal of interest in this opening,” said Dr. Colbert. “Dr. Miller emerged from this strong field of candidates, and I am confident that her unique skills and experience, plus her knowledge of and commitment to FHS, will make her a strong leader for our largest campus.”

“I am very honored to be recommended for this position,” said Dr. Miller.  “Fayetteville High School is very near and dear to me, and I look forward to working with our outstanding staff and students in a new leadership role to continue and build upon the tradition of excellence at FHS.”

Dr. Miller earned her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University, her master’s degree in Secondary Education from East Central University, her educational specialist’s degree from Arkansas State University, and her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Arkansas. From 2011 to 2021, Dr. Miller was a National Board Certified Teacher in adolescent and young adult mathematics.

She has served on the faculty at FHS since 2008 as an Advanced Placement calculus teacher, small learning community lead teacher, dean of students, vice-principal, and assistant principal. She has served as a teacher at the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics, in the Fort Smith Public Schools, Kaufman Independent School District in Kaufman, Texas, Killeen Independent School District in Killeen, Texas, and the Temple Independent School District in Temple, Texas.
